Jessica Wheeler is such a fun and easy pick for Tomahawk of the Week! She brings great energy to everything she does and makes learning exciting for her students. Her creativity really stands out, especially with the amazing, first-class musical she puts together—she truly thinks of everything. Jessica is brilliantly clever, super hardworking, and all-in when it comes to giving her kids the best experience possible. She’s the kind of teacher who makes a big impact while making it look like a blast! We are lucky to have her.
Tip of the week:
Establishing clear routines at the beginning of the year (and reinforcing them consistently) is one of the most effective ways to create a calm, productive classroom. When students know exactly what to do, it reduces confusion, saves instructional time, and allows you to focus on teaching—not managing behavior.
🔦This week we are spotlighting Mrs. Robinette's Kindergarten grade class!
In class we are learning about 3 dimensional shapes, so on Friday we had so much fun using real objects and materials to construct them to deepen our understanding. The students had so much fun exploring faces, sides, vertices and many other vocabulary terms we've been learning during lessons. They were so excited to show off their 3D creations!

Kelsie Sanders is such a great pick for Tomahawk of the Week! She may be sweet and quiet, but she has such a powerful presence in her classroom. Her students absolutely adore her, and it’s easy to see why—she leads with so much love and care every single day. Even though she’s still pretty new to teaching, you’d never know it—she handles everything like a total pro. Her teammates can’t say enough good things about her, and she’s always showing up with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow. Kelsie’s impact is strong, steady, and so appreciated by everyone around her!
Tip of the Week from Ms. Sanders:
Celebrate student effort, not just results. One of my favorite books to read in our class is The Magical Yet because it encourages a growth mindset and reminds students that just because they can't do something now doesn't mean they won't be able to in the future. Celebrating their effort is just as important as celebrating their results because it shows students that trying, practicing, and powering through hard things are what leads to growth.
🔦This week we are spotlighting Mr. Walburn's 2nd grade class!
This week, the students are continuing to work in their Market Day Groups where they are learning all about how to run their own business that they have created as a team. This week the students all learned the importance of Advertising and promoting the products they are going to be creating and selling, by creating a Team Advertisement Flyer. The students all had a great time working together, using each team member's creativity and ideas.
Mismatched socks are a fun and meaningful way to raise awareness and celebrate differences—because being unique is what makes us all special.

Shane Ferron is a perfect choice for Tomahawk of the Week because of the steady, quiet leadership he brings to our school each day. He leads by example through his strong work ethic, careful attention to detail, and unwavering commitment to doing what is best for students. Shane is incredibly reliable and dependable—someone you can always count on to step in, step up, and make sure things are done the right way. So much of his work is "behind the scenes" but his hard work and dedication make a tremendously meaningful difference in our school community every single day. He also happens to be funny, supportive, and one of the nicest people we know! We love Shane and are so very glad he is a Tomahawk!
Tip of the Week from Mr. Ferron: Building relationships with students can significantly reduce behavior challenges. One simple strategy is the 2×10 method: spend two minutes a day for ten days talking with a student about something other than school. Those smaller connections often lead to big changes in behavior.
🔦This week we are spotlighting Mr. Pendarvis' 4th grade class!
In our classroom, students have been exploring measurement conversions through engaging, hands-on activities. They practiced measuring items around the room to the nearest quarter inch and created their own “Gallon Man” diagrams to help memorize important conversion facts.
Andrea Kebert is a fantastic addition to Tomahawk Nation! Have you seen her teach? If not, RUN to see what she is doing. She brings a positive attitude to school each day that is contagious to both students and staff. She consistently shares creative and innovative ideas for extending learning and has played an important role in helping us navigate some new ways of thinking in terms of extending learning and challenging our highest learners. Andrea is always willing to help however she can, supporting both students and teachers with enthusiasm and kindness. Her creativity, team spirit, and overall good vibes make her a wonderful asset to our school community and we are so glad she is here!
💡Tip of the Week from Mrs. Kebert: 💡
As parents and teachers it is essential that we are setting high, yet reasonable, expectations. A colleague once told me that "you can't rise to low expectations" and that is something that has stuck with me on my teaching journey. It's easy for us to let the chaos of life take over. We want to jump in and do things for our children and students, but these are the moments when we need to keep our expectations high and give them the opportunity to rise to the challenge. Giving them a safe space to try and fail so that they will try again will set children up for becoming creative problem solvers in the future.
